The Final Week of Christmas Cocktails!
Alright, here it is – the fourth and final cocktail in our Holiday Cocktail Series! This week we are finishing things off with a vodka cocktail that is fresh and spicy – one of my favourite Christmas vodka cocktails I have tried! There are warm notes of winter pear, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. Such a lovely and unexpected combo!
Keeping it Local with Georgian Bay Spirit Co
I am excited to be featuring another local liquor company this week with Georgian Bay Spirit Co. You probably noticed their Gin Smash and Vodka Smash drinks in the LCBO this summer (instant summer classics!) and they also make gin and vodka. As common as vodka is as a liquor, it is actually not my typical go-to when making cocktails (I’m a gin girl through and through!). After hearing great things about the Georgian Bay Spirit Co. Vodka I knew I had to give it a try, so making this cocktail was a welcomed challenge. Now, do you want to know the coooolest thing about this vodka? It was named the Best Vodka at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. How cool is that a vodka made using all local Ontario ingredients was voted the best vodka in the world? Yep, I thought so…pretty cool!
Ingredients for the Pear & Ginger Twist:
- 1.5 ounce of Vodka
- .5 ounce of elderflower liqueur (St. Germain or similar)
- 2 ounces of pear juice
- 2 ounces of spicy ginger beer
- a sprinkle of all spice (nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon mix)
- cinnamon stick and candied ginger to garnish
Making this cocktail could not be more simple! Combine the vodka, elderflower liqueur and pear juice in a shaker and shake it with ice. Pour the cocktail into a glass with ice. Top off the drink with ginger beer and sprinkle on the all spice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and slice of candied ginger. Enjoy!
