Tumeric Latte Recipe

As most of you know, Dan is a coffee roaster and just generally coffee obsessed. What you may not know is that I don’t drink coffee (I love tasting whatever he tries but my caffeine tolerance is LOW). Quite honestly, I don’t always even enjoy a cup of tea (herbal or otherwise) which leaves me at loose ends when visiting cafes with Dan. When we travel he has a laundry list of cafes to visit in each city and with the amount of things that guy does for me…I’m not about to cut that list short. So I’m always drawn to the interesting and different menu items that cafes have to offer; things like ginger lemon zingers, or beet root lattes and lately, tumeric lattes.

Tumeric has recently come about as a bit of a super food – with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties there are long lists of what tumeric does to help with health. I’m not here to give any unsolicited (and uneducated!) health advice though (I’ll leave that to the rest of the internet ha!) what I like about this drink is that it is spicy and warm…just what you want in the winter!

Tumeric Latte

This latte is warm and spicy with notes of tumeric, ginger, and cinnamon.

  • 1 cup Milk (I used oat but use whichever you prefer!)
  • 1/4 tsp ground tumeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 cloves
  1. Combine all ingredients in a small pot and heat on the stove until just below boiling. To make the drink frothy you can quickly whisk the milk as it warms to add air or you can use a milk frother to give it texture. Drink warm!

The key to a tasty tumeric latte is to include more than just tumeric and milk (like the name might imply). Ginger, cinnamon, and cloves add more interest to the flavour and honey adds a much needed (in my opinion) sweetness. This is another great option for a warm drink to easily make for yourself at home!
