Golden Hour Cocktails…
The condo we live in is small and humble but I love it for the light, the windows, and the view…when the sun goes down things can become pretty magical in here. Last weekend we stayed in one night because it was just so darn cold. I whipped up some of these mulled pear ciders and they were too tasty not to share. They can be made with alcohol (spiced rum) or without – I couldn’t find a bottle of spiced rum in our liquor cabinet so these were made without!
To make 2 cups of pear cider you will need…
Ingredients:
- 1.5-2 cups cups apple cider (I found an apple and pear mix at the grocery store that was perfect)
- half a ripe pear muddled into a puree and the other half used for cooking and garnish
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- a 2″ cube of ginger diced into smaller pieces
- the juice of half a lime
Let’s make it!
- Cut your pear in quarters all going in the same direction (so you end up with 4 slices shaped how you see in my drink above)
- Using the 2 outside pieces, muddle them in a glass until they form a pear puree – add water if needed
- In a cooking pot combine the pear puree, the cider, the cinnamon sticks, the ginger, lime juice and the slices of pear (yep…that’s everything!)
- Slowly bring the pot to a simmer and stir often to spread out the pear puree
- Pour the cider equally into 2 glasses
- Remove the pear slices from the pot and place 1 in each mug and enjoy!
